Brief:

These clients came to us ready to renovate their kitchen after undertaking other renovations in the house.  Living in a leafy older suburb with teenage children, the family were focussed on including a durable and functional kitchen to last over time and complement the house and the area.

Result:

A combination of different bamboo strand and ply provide interest and durability in this kitchen.

The island bench provides both a breakfast bar as well as storage space and bookshelf space for cookbooks and other items.  The granite bench top provides a lovely contrast to the bamboo and is a sturdy, practical bench top surface, often favoured by avid cooks for rolling out pastry.

Several banks of drawers ensure easy access for pots and other items, as well as a utensil drawer close to the cooktop.  The drawers are opened with shaped finger pulls, which were hand-shaped in each drawer.  A larger drawer underneath the sink provides a large space for a waste bin and recycling bin.

A le-mans unit ensures easy access to items in the corner cupboard next to the dishwasher.

The pantry consists of shelves behind bamboo framed glass doors as well as drawers underneath the glass doors.  This combination allows for a lot of flexibility in storing pantry items and maximises access to all items in the pantry.

Slots above the fridge allow for storage of platters, wine and other items.

And a side display cupboard finishes off the kitchen and separates the kitchen from the living area.
