Brief

The key priority for this kitchen was fitting in with the 1970’s architecturally designed house; the bush setting and the raked ceiling at 4800mm with interior timber panelling. Having seen a custom plywood fitout, our clients were keen to use plywood for its aesthetics and robustness. Our clients were searching for a unique design to suit their unique house.  Other key priorities included a functional, minimalist design, open shelf pantry and plenty of bench space. Upon seeing our adjustable workbench, an adjustable bench top was included in the brief.

Outcome

The final result is a gorgeous kitchen that fits so well with the house it looks like it has always been there.  The recycled brushbox timber bench top sits on an electric adjustable base, with a discreet switch for easily adjusting the bench top height.  The plywood cabinetry and Tasmanian Oak doors and drawers ensure the kitchen is strong, durable and sustainable.  The wall cabinetry follows the line of the ceiling and a plethora of LED lighting provides both practical and aesthetic lighting.  And the custom stainless steel sink with inset compost bin  provides a seamless and practical washing up area where chopping boards sit upon the sink for ease of chopping and washing.  Drawer after drawer provide practical and easy storage. And the sliding roller door adds a piece of art to the kitchen.

Adjustable bench top

What do you do when the main occupants in the house are different heights and enough that a fixed bench top height is difficult to navigate? Install an adjustable height bench top of course!  A small switch is discretely located on the left hand side of the bench and easily and effortlessly changes the bench top height.  There are preset heights or the bench can be adjusted as needed.

Feature sliding roller door

The feature sliding roller door adds pop and a piece of art to the kitchen.  Three different types of green glass, cut in organic shapes with a shaped Tasmanian Oak frame.  The different types of glass also have different textures to them.  And the glass is laminated for safety.  The door leads into the storeroom where there the ovens are located and shelving for pantry items.

Custom stainless steel bench

Stainless steel benches are tough and long lasting.  This custom made stainless steel bench includes two bowls, steps to hold chopping boards, an inset compost bucket and also mirrors the curve of the brushbox timber bench top.  There are no joins.
